How does this thing work?

The service we provide is called a banner exchange network. What this means is that you put a place holder on your web site. Each time someone views your web site, FortBendLinks.com causes a banner ad to display in that place holder. Your web site will display a different banner each time someone views it. Your web site will essentially be providing a small billboard on which other local web sites advertise. In exchange for you providing this advertising space, your ad will display on other web sites in Fort Bend county that are signed up with FortBendLinks.com.

How can you offer this service for free?

We can offer the service free of charge because we give you a two to one banner ratio. Which means that half of the banners displayed by the system will be free ads like yours. The other half we are free to sell to paid advertisers to help support the service. We may also use this ad space to advertise FortBendLinks.com itself.

Can I have more than one banner for my web site?

Yes, you can. Under "My Banners", you can ad as many banners as you like. You can also check the green check mark next to each banner to make it inactive. Inactive banners don't display. You can watch the clicks on each banner to see which banner people respond to better. When you have more than one banner, they are displayed in an even rotation. Each of the active banners gets displayed evenly with the others.

How do the credits work?

Every time a banner displays on your web site, your web site is given 1/2 credit. Every time your banner displays on another web site, 1 credit is taken from your web site. So for example, if you have a FortBendLinks.com banner on your home page and that home page is viewed 20 times, you earn 10 credits. This allows us to then display your banner on other web sites 10 times. Your credits are used as they are earned. This means that once you have 1 credit, your banner will be in queue to be displayed.

Will my information be sold to other mailing lists?

If I need a banner made, do you provide these services?

Yes, we can build your banner for you. We can build a simple banner with text and graphics for $50. If you need something more complex like an animated gif file, it may be more.

How do I ad a banner to my site?

Once you have your banner ad created, you need to be sure to ad your web site to FortBendLinks.com by clicking "My Websites" on the menu, then "Add Site". If you already have your web site registered, then click on "My Banners" in the menu. Now click the "Add Banner" button located below the web site name you are adding the banner for. Now click the "Browse" button, browse to the banner file, click open, then click "Upload Banner".
